Diabetes or more precisely ‘Diabetes mellitus’ is the disorder when the body, particularly the pancreas, cannot produce ‘insulin’ — the hormone that converts sugar into heat and muscle power. The pancreas is the organ within our bodies that produces insulin.

Hundreds of people fall prey to diabetes. In USA, the number of diabetics has already crossed the 23 million mark.
Diabetes is spreading so fast that the American health department has declared is an ‘epidemic’.

Unfortunately, 35 per cent of the diabetics remain unaware that they are suffering from diabetes mellitus. This is because they are unaware of diabetes, not to speak of the symptoms.
Hence, these people do not initiate the steps needed to tackle diabetes. By the time, they seek medical advice, diabetes take deep roots within their bodies with disastrous consequences. In such cases, vital organs can also get damaged.
Therefore, we should be aware of the causes and also the symptoms of diabetes so that we can keep diabetes at bay.
DIABETES, PANCREAS, INSULIN & METABOLISM: INTER-CONNECTED
